Easter Tablescape
Hubby and I are so excited to be able to host Easter at our house for the first time this year. I of course jumped at the opportunity to put together an easy but beautiful Easter tablescape for our Easter Sunday lunch.
Normally we go to Mother and Daddy’s house for our annual Easter lunch after church. But they are in the middle of renovations after a flood and they are preparing to put my childhood home on the market. Very bittersweet!
One of the things I was most excited about when we moved into our new house was the ability to host family and friends for holidays, showers and special occasions. Our first little house was not ideal for hosting anything more than a very small gathering. The downstairs footprint was very small and we did not have a dining room.
Mother has a knack for always making things look so beautiful and put together for holidays and gatherings. I have a lot to learn but I tried to follow in her footsteps by creating a special tablescape for our first Easter in our new home.
I wanted to make it special and beautiful without spending a lot of money on seasonal Easter decor.
Almost everything I used was from what I already had at home. I have talked about it here before, but I always choose white plates and serveware for the ability to mix and match with a seamless look. Plus it’s easy to add in pops of color and seasonal decor against a white backdrop.
I used our white pearl place settings that we received from our wedding registry. I absolutely love the classic pearl detail and the traditional design. Shortly after we got married I got a letter from Crate and Barrel saying they were going to discontinue the entire white pearl line. I guess enough people complained because they changed their minds and brought it back! Thank goodness.
I grounded the table with a simple ruffled neutral linen table runner. I added my natural round placemats that I picked up from Wally World for a couple of dollars a few years ago : ) Sadly I think they have been discontinued because I cannot find them anymore. Here is a similar inexpensive lookalike.
One of mine and Mother’s favorite things to hunt for at the thrift store is antique milk glass. I absolutely love it and over the years we have amounted quite the collection. The hobnail milk glass is my very favorite and I filled a few hobnail vases with hydrangeas I picked up at the grocery store.
I found these sweet little bunny dessert plates at Ross one day on my way home from work. At $7.99 for a four-pack they were quite the steal. It’s always hit or miss but you never know what you might find in those discount stores!
I added a few candles to our hobnail candle holders and filled small hobnail candy dishes with mini Cadbury eggs – my very favorite Easter candy! The dishes weren’t nearly as full by the time I was able to take these pictures. Not sure how that happened : )
I picked up the white bunnies in the Target Dollar Spot and added greenery from the hydrangeas and jute rope to dress up my white monogrammed linen napkins. They were also a wedding gift.
The soft pastel hydrangeas look beautiful against the neutral palette and I can’t wait to have Easter lunch here with our family. We’re serving up our traditional Southern menu: ham, green beans, deviled eggs, twice baked potatoes and this delicious pineapple casserole. Seriously, it’s the best. If you haven’t tried it you are missing out!
I hope you have a blessed and Happy Easter with your loved ones!
