June is officially baby month! I figured I better go ahead and share our family maternity photos before the little guy is actually here : )
Today marks exactly three weeks from the day we will be holding him in our arms and we can hardly wait. I got to see a sneak peek of his sweet little face on a 3d ultrasound at one of our appointments this week. He looks exactly like big brother John Davis looked as a newborn and we are already so in love.
This second pregnancy has been a lot different than the first. Sorry, second child, but there are no weekly bump pictures this time around detailing your developmental milestones and what size fruit you are. No newly designed nursery. A hand-me-down wardrobe and not nearly as many monogrammed outfits (although don’t worry, those will come). And at 36 weeks we’ve yet to put the carseat in the car or get down all the baby gear from the attic.

But one thing’s for certain: we couldn’t love you any more and we are counting down the days until you are here.
We chose Megan Wallach Photography to document this special time as a growing family and I couldn’t be happier with how beautiful the photos turned out. Megan is crazy talented, so sweet, easy to work with, and extremely reasonably priced. I would highly recommend her!
As usual I wanted our outfits for the photos to be classic, neutral and soft. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a maternity dress that I would likely never wear again. So I turned to Amazon where I have had luck finding inexpensive dress options in the past, like this pink maxi dress I wore for these family photos.
I was happy to find this white lace maternity maxi dress for under $25! Not the highest quality, but perfect to wear one time for photos. I did wear a slip underneath to make sure it wasn’t see-through.
John Davis wore the same Cecil and Lou outfit he wore on Easter. Cecil and Lou has the most adorable children’s clothing at reasonable prices for special occasion outfits such as this one. I opted to order it blank and did the monogramming myself.
I paired his blue and white gingham short set with two classic staples in every southern boys wardrobe: knee socks and saddle oxfords. Nothing sweeter in my opinion!
Hubby wore a solid baby blue dress shirt and khakis to complete a classic and cohesive look without being too matchy-matchy.
Megan had her work cut out for her trying to keep up with a very active John Davis but she managed to get some great shots.
I’m not very comfortable in front of the camera (read: I hate being in front of the camera), but Megan made it easy by telling me exactly what to do: how to stand, where to look, where to put my hands, etc. I was so thankful for that!
I love the joy and excitement she so perfectly captured.
This is such a sweet and special time for our little family of three (soon to be four!) and I’m so glad I will have these photos to remember it by.
The timing of the photos coincided with John Davis turning two so I made sure to get some of just him as well.
He is changing so fast and I never want to forget every little detail of him at this age.
At two years old John Davis is all boy. He is energetic and always on the go. He loves trucks and playing outside in the dirt. He would rather go without clothes. He rarely slows down but when he does he is the most loving and cuddly little guy. He is hilarious and has quite the personality. He is smart as can be and loves to learn. He thinks Daddy is the most fun but is a Mama’s boy through and through.
I’m trying to soak up every last minute while it is just the two of us but I can’t wait to see John Davis become a big brother.
Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.
