Cedar Creek Farm: April – May 2020

We have certainly been busy out at the farm over the last two months! Our little farm has been such a blessing to us. We’ve spent countless hours with our family enjoying God’s creation, the boys are loving farm life, and it’s been the best escape during the long weeks of quarantine.

We have put in endless hours of hard work (especially Brother and Daddy), and it is so exciting to see our little farm come back to life!

I put some of my favorite photos and videos from the last couple of months together in one place and it is so neat to look back on all we have been up to.

Some of my favorites:

  • 0:12 – Our property lines have officially been marked!
  • 0:18 – The bulldozer arrived and the boys thought it was the greatest thing ever : )
  • 1:15 – Silt fencing was installed to start clearing trees
  • 1:49 – Got to the farm bright and early to watch the very first day of tree clearing with the bulldozer. At 7:00 AM that morning John Davis excitedly asked, “Can we go see the bulldozer?!”
  • 1:57 – Watching their hero Unc Bubba work the bobcat. John Davis stood still in one place for what seemed like hours watching in amazement!
  • 4:12 – Someone let Hubby in the bobcat. Scary!
  • 4:53 – The big trees starting coming down and the farm really started to look different!
  • 6:45 – Brother and Daddy are the hardest working men I have ever known! They spent over a week cutting every single tree that came down with a chainsaw.
  • 7:04 – After the barn and trees had been cleared. It was the first time you could really see the whole property!
  • 8:40 – After the trees were taken down and cut, they were picked up by the logging truck and hauled off to the lumber mill.
  • 8:55 – The branches, tree stumps, and smaller trees were all burned on the farm.
  • 9:18 – Unc Bubba operating the bulldozer
  • 10:18 – Cleaning out the old barn before it got knocked down. We found a few treasures in there, like some of the original doors to the old farmhouse.
  • 10:38 – The recycle dumpster being delivered. There was a lot of metal on the property (from the barn, old tractors and farm equipment in the woods) and it got loaded up in the dumpster and taken to a metal recycle facility.
  • 11:40 – Their new favorite playground!
  • 13:00 – The boys love taking rides on the fourwheeler
  • 13:43 – “Hells Angel” : ) Fletcher in particular has taken a huge interest in “driving” #scary.
  • 14:20 – Can’t get enough of them riding around together, although we think Fletcher may have whiplash from John Davis’s reckless driving 🙂
  • 14:55 – Mother probably wants to wring my neck for including these videos but I just couldn’t leave them out. She learned how to drive the zero turn lawn mower and I can’t watch these videos without laughing so hard I cry! Daddy did not like her driving his lawn mower 🙂
  • We had to move the big swing because the branch that holds it looks like it is dying and it wasn’t safe anymore. I moved it to a little tree and the boys loved it just as much.
  • 17:08 – Lots and lots of mud puddles! Fletcher trying to jump over the puddle like big brother 🙂
  • 17:30 – Brotherly love
  • 18:41 – Fletcher stuck in the mud! Hahaha : )
  • 19:30 – Never a shortage of work to be done around here. This little farm has been neglected for so long.
  • 20:00 – John Davis and Fletcher planted their own little blueberry bushes.
  • 20:20 – The blueberry bushes are producing more blueberries than you can ever imagine! They are so close to being ready and we can’t wait to enjoy them!
  • 20:30 – After watching trees get knocked down, John Davis thinks every tree should come down. They singlehandedly cut down this little tree by themselves (it was coming down anyways). *No children were harmed with shears in the making of this video 🙂
  • 21:26 – Fletcher relaxing
  • 21:40 – Dirt. Lots and lots of DIRT
  • 22:17 – I found the largest four leaf clover I have ever seen! I think our farm is extra lucky and abundantly blessed!

Still pinching myself that God has blessed us with our own little piece of land. Nowhere else I would rather be than in this place with these people.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24
