2016 Fall Family Photos
John Davis is six months old! How is it possible that my baby is already halfway to his first birthday? It’s true what they say: babies don’t keep. And this mama is all emotional about it.
We took advantage of a Fall family mini session with Brandy Craig Photography to document this milestone. You may remember that Brandy photographed John Davis’s birth. Having a (previous) stranger in the room while delivering a baby certainly puts you on a whole new level of comfort with a person, and this was Brandy’s first time seeing John Davis since he was born.
So many photographers now offer mini sessions and I think they are a win-win for everyone! Now that I have a child I want to have photos of everything, but paying for professional photography sessions all the time just isn’t in the budget. Mini sessions allow you to get high quality professional photos at a fraction of the cost.
Not to mention, a mini session is much shorter in duration: normally around 20 minutes. I don’t know about you but my child (and even more so my hubby) can’t cooperate for pictures for much longer than that anyways.
John Davis wore his baby blue Feltman Brothers Train Car Creeper for the special occasion. I know I’ve said it before but there is nothing more classic than a baby wearing Feltman Brothers.
Even more blue than his sweet outfit are his gorgeous baby blue eyes. He got those from his great-grandmother who he also happens to share the “Davis” namesake with.
As I anticipated John Davis wasn’t the most cooperative but we still managed to get some great pictures and I plan on using them for my Christmas cards this year.
These are just a few of my favorites.
Brandy captured his full range of personality. His serious (and sleepy) faces, his inquisitive nature, and his sweet and playful smiles.
We even managed to get a few family pictures as well.
As a new mama I so appreciate these family photos because it is so rare that a mom is actually in a photo with her children. We are always the ones behind the camera!
These photos were taken at McDaniel Farm Park in Duluth, Georgia. It’s a short drive if you’re in the Atlanta area and it has so many beautiful settings for family photos.
Including this gorgeous 1930’s farmhouse.
John Davis was still a little unsteady sitting up at this point and fell back on to the porch while having his picture made (more like toppled over). He was completely fine but this mama was so upset about it and I practically cried the whole way home. I felt like the worst mom in the world! Brandy is also a mom of boys and assured me that would be the first tumble of many as he learned to sit and crawl. She was right.
I’m so glad I have these milestone pictures. Because I know that in no time I’ll be wondering what happened to those thigh rolls and tiny barefoot toes that I could just eat up.
Now if someone could please just tell me how to make this sweet season of life slow down.
He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Mark 10:14-16
