Sherwin Williams Pure White Exterior: Our Farmhouse Is White!
Oh happy day! By far the most exciting thing so far has been seeing the house get painted a beautiful coat of white paint! (I think I say every step is the most exciting so far, but this time I really mean it! 😉 )
There is just something about a white house that makes my heart skip a beat!
Exterior Paint Details
If you read my last post, then you know how we came to the decision to go with Sherwin Williams Pure White for the exterior paint on our house, and we couldn’t be happier with the way it looks!
Here are the details of the paint products we used on the exterior of our house:
- Primer: Kilz Oil Based Exterior Primer from Home Depot (my brother and the painter’s both recommended using an oil based primer)
- Paint: Sherwin Williams Pure White Super Paint
- Caulk: SherMax Elastomeric Sealant (crackproof, lifetime warranty, flexible joint movement – won’t crack when your joints expand and contract)
Exterior paint: Sherwin Williams Pure white
So without further ado, here’s a picture overload of our house being painted white!
The painter’s started by priming all of the wood (rafters, tongue & groove porch ceiling and porch posts).
Everything else on the exterior of the house (trim and siding) is HardiePlank and comes pre-primed! That is the yellow color you see on the house.
I remember how excited I was when I saw the porch posts primed white for the first time! : )
paint clean up crew
And by clean up crew, I mean we are the clean up crew! Ha! We could either pay someone to do the clean up, or we could do it ourselves and save the money.
Bet you can guess which one we chose! We figured there is no sense in paying someone to do something we can easily do ourselves.
It’s definitely not glamorous, but over the course of the entire construction process it has saved us a lot of money.
Plus, the boys think it’s great when we go out there to clean up: we give them a big garbage bag and they think it’s so fun to fill it up with scraps on the ground and then throw it in the big dumpster!
life lately at the farm
There’s been no shortage of fun for the boys in this oversized mudpit 🙂
Despite the cold weather we have continued to enjoy bonfires, four wheeling and spending time outdoors.
We even had our first “meal” in the new house – Publix subs picnic style on the ground in our new kitchen!
John Davis and Fletcher have been enjoying their new John Deere tractors they got for Christmas from Grandmother and Granddaddy Santa 🙂
We also had some of our friends out to the farm one afternoon. Staci and I have been friends since the 9th grade, and now it is so fun to see all of our boys (SIX total combined!!) play together.
They had the best time riding fourwheelers and powerwheels and digging in the dirt!
It made me anxiously excited to get out here so that we can host our friends and family regularly!
Now that the exterior of the house is painted we can move on to the roof!
