Today I’m sharing a round up of my personal favorite Top 10 Affordable Rugs that Look Expensive.
I’m a firm believer that you don’t need to spend a fortune to have a home that looks high end, and these budget-friendly rugs in my home prove just that! I can personally vouch for these because I have every single one of these affordable rugs in my own home and still love them today.

Why I Love Decorating With Affordable Rugs that Look Expensive
Champagne taste on a beer budget? I got you covered!
An area rug is an easy way to instantly update or refresh a room. It grounds the room, adds softness, and defines the space. Unfortunately, so many area rugs cost well into the thousands, and that’s not always attainable!
In today’s day and age I feel that it is not necessary to spend thousands on a rug to get a high-end look. With the endless amount of designer dupes and competitive online retailers at our fingertips, it is easier than ever to get the look of a high-end designer rug on an Amazon budget.
Why Consider Affordable Rugs That Looks Expensive
Rug Ruined? No Problem!
At this stage in our family’s life, expensive rugs in our home would be a disaster! I happen to run a small fraternity house over here 😉
Three boys + a golden retriever + 20 acres of farm land = inevitable spills, stains, dirt, and who knows what else! It’s real life over here. The boys and dog track wet muddy footprint/pawprints in, spaghetti sauce gets spilled on our light colored rug under our breakfast nook table, and markers/playdoh/slime have been known to mysteriously appear on our rugs as well.
I can honestly say these real-life messes have been no big deal and that each of these rugs has held up wonderfully. Affordable rug does not necessarily equal poor quality. These rugs take on real life everyday but clean up wonderfully and have been extremely durable.
However, when the puppy accidentally chews up the corner of the rug, it’s not nearly as painful to replace it because I never paid a fortune in the first place. Ask me how I know.
Changed Your Mind? No Guilt!
If you happen to love redecorating and styling your home like I do, an affordable rug that looks expensive is perfect for you. There is no guilt attached when you want to replace that rug for a new style or color.
My Favorite Affordable Rugs that Look Expensive (With Photos!)
Below I’ve included a round up of the top 10 affordable rugs that look expensive in my own home. I’ve included online photos, real life photos of the rug in my own spaces, as well as some of the reasons I love it.
Classic Red Oriental Style Rug on a Budget
This rug is by far the best selling item I’ve ever shared online, and for good reason! It is so good.
Why I Love it: There is nothing more timeless than a red oriental rug. The pattern and colors in this rug look so high end. In fact, you would be hard pressed to determine whether this is an antique oriental rug or a modern reproduction. You would have to look really, really closely to be able to tell.
How its holding up: This affordable rug is very low pile, making it extremely durable and easy to clean. It has held up perfectly in the adorable bedroom of two rambunctious little boys 🙂

Vintage Style Rug in Our Primary Bedroom and Bathroom
Why I love it: This rug is so beautiful. The vintage motif is timeless and it exudes elegance with its soft, neutral colors.
I love it so much I have multiple of these rugs in different sizes throughout our primary bedroom, bathroom, and ensuite hallway. You can see more photos of our primary bathroom here.

Traditional Hand-Woven Area Rug and Runner
Why I love it: This traditional rug is hand-woven, making it look and feel thick and lush. It looks way more expensive than it is.
This is another rug that I loved so much that I used it in multiple areas in my home! It sits under our table in our dining nook, and I also have the runner and matching rug in our foyer. These are both high traffic areas and this rug has proven to be easy to clean and extremely durable.
Even though it is light in color, the hand-woven loops and texture make this rug extremely forgiving to stains and spills. Keep on reading to the bottom where I share a few of my miracle rug cleaners.

Blue Paisley Laundry Room Runner
This is one of those rugs that looks darker in online photos than it does in real life. The good news is that it is sold in store so you can easily see it in person. I just happened upon this rug one day while out grocery shopping and I knew it would be perfect for our laundry room.
Why I love it: This light blue rug has a fun paisley pattern and a non-skid backing. The light blue color is so pretty in person and the low pile rug makes it ideal for high traffic areas. Oh and did I mention? It is also machine washable!

Green Oriental Style Rug
A rug so nice I bought it twice! This is the same rug as the red oriental rug I shared above, only in a different color-way.
This green oriental style rug is in my oldest son’s bedroom, and it has the same traditional charm as the red oriental rug. His room is a work in progress but this rug is a great start to anchor his entire “green” room!

Durable Indoor/Outdoor Chevron Pattern Rug
Why I love it: This chevron pattern rug is an indoor/outdoor rug so it is perfect for high traffic areas. If it gets dirty you can quite literally take it outside and hose it off!
I have three of these chevron rugs throughout our basement. The chevron pattern gives a nice subtle pattern and they are quite literally indestructible!

Natural Seagrass Runner with Olive Green Border

Why I love it: This natural seagrass runner feels substantial enough to handle the heavy foot traffic in and out of our mudroom every day.
The green border detail really elevates the rug. With 10 border colors to choose from, there is bound to be a color that coordinates with your space.

Geometric Sisal Kitchen Runner
Why I love it: This geometric sisal runner is a dupe for a very popular, very expensive rug. It looks eerily similar for a fraction of the cost!
Not to mention, this runner is in our kitchen – arguably the busiest spot in our entire home – and it is holding up so well. I love the nonskid backing: no rug pad needed!

Diamond Cotton Flatwoven Rug in the Nursery
Why I love it: This diamond rug has a subtle neutral pattern, making it a versatile choice for almost any room! It is handmade and 100% cotton.
I used it in our nursery and you can see tour the entire room and see many more photos of the rug HERE.

Washable Green Basement Guest Bedroom Rug
Why I love it: This green rug is so soft under foot. The pattern is beautiful and did I mention it is washable?!
We have this rug in the guest bedroom in our basement (which is still a work in progress but gets the job done!). You would never guess how inexpensive it is!
