Summer Waterslide Birthday Party
We celebrated Fletcher’s 4th birthday at the end of June with a fun, colorful, water-filled, all-things-summer waterslide birthday party!
It was a hot summer day in June filled with nothing but blue skies, sunshine, the happy sounds of children running and playing outside, and lots of fun in the sun!
The children had a ball and it was so fun to watch them enjoy all of the quintessential things that make childhood summer so magical.
Today I’m sharing all the details from our oh-so-fun summer waterslide birthday party!
Summer waterslide birthday party invitations
I found these darling “Splish Splash Waterslide Bash” birthday party invitations on Etsy. The fun, colorful design from the invitations influenced all of the party decorations.
Etsy is my favorite place to find cute party invitations. You can personalize and print these right at home which is a dream come true for Mama’s that need them done quickly!
Summer waterslide birthday party table and decor
This party table was so fun (and easy!) to set up!
I set up two tables under our white party tents to display all of the food and drinks.
Everything was easy and inexpensive to put together. Almost everything came from Amazon, Walmart, or the DollarTree!
party tents and tables
We’ve hosted so many parties and showers over the years that we have invested in two 10×10 white party tents and a couple of 6-foot party tables. I am so glad that we did because we have used them more times than I can count!
The two white tents were set up side by side to make one large shaded area. A must-have for the extreme heat wave we were experiencing here in Georgia at the end of June with temperatures well over 100 degrees!
Then we set up our two 6-ft tables side by side to make one long 12 foot table under the tents.
party tablecloths
I covered the tables in yellow and white striped tablecloths from Amazon. They were a little on the thin side and somewhat see-through.
Easy fix: I got two solid white tablecloths from the DollarTree and layered them underneath the yellow stripe tablecloths, and viola! No longer see-through 🙂
THESE table clips are a must-have for tablecloths if you are having a party outside. Trust me! We get a lot of wind in our front yard and these saved the day on more than one occasion.
colorful pennant banner
THIS colorful pennant banner looked so cute draped around the entire perimeter of the white tents.
I had great plans to string it over the yard (and it came with plenty enough length to do just that!), but when the time came to it I decided that 1). I was tired, and 2). that was completely “extra” and unnecessary.
DIY balloon garland kit
Balloon garland kits are the best! They are inexpensive, come with everything you need, and are so easy to put together. Best of all they give you such a big bang for your buck.
I made a colorful balloon garland from THIS inexpensive kit and hung it over the tables. THIS purchase from earlier this year is the best thing ever!! Every mom needs one. I have used it so many times and it makes inflating balloons an absolute breeze.
Another added bonus of balloon garland: because they don’t use helium, the balloons hold their air for a long time. I was able to make the balloon garland well in advance before the party. Come the day of the party it was ready to go and all I had to do was hang it up. Work smarter, not harder, right?! 🙂
I used THESE adorable mini beach balls to create a garland for the front of the table by stringing them on red and white baker’s twine.
The platter and serving pieces came from the DollarTree, and I displayed cupcakes on a tiered cupcake stand that I have had forever.
Fletcher was SO excited to get to have a birthday party of his own!
Other than his first birthday party, this is the only party he has ever had (thanks pandemic).
Fletcher just finished his first year of preschool and made some sweet friends in his class. He was so excited to invite them to his party!
Unashamedly he was especially excited to invite a cute little blonde girl that he grew particularly fond of 😉
It was extra special to have a day dedicated to celebrate our sweet Fletcherman with our family and friends.
Summer waterslide birthday party Food menu
I debated a couple of different options for the food, but ultimately decided to keep it super simple and easy for myself by ordering pizza from the Domino’s right down the road from our house. Best decision ever!
Someone even commented that the pizza boxes matched the party decor, and that’s a win in my book. 🙂
In keeping with the “easy” theme of pizza, I choose to serve only finger foods and snacks that could easily be picked up by little hands. No utensils needed!
Sliced watermelon was served on a big teal platter from the DollarTree.
Colorful sand buckets and shovels displayed and served pretzels, goldfish, and popcorn.
It was such a fun and inexpensive way to display the food and make it look festive!
party drinks
All of the drinks were set up on the far left end of the table.
We served lemonade in a glass dispenser on top of a wood crate. The beverage tub on the right was filled with juice boxes for the children.
Not pictured is our large Yeti cooler on the ground that was full of cold water bottles and Cokes.
There were decorative paper straws, clear plastic cups for lemonade, and plates and napkins for the food.
Summer waterslide birthday party cupcakes and Dessert
Inexpensive Publix grocery store cupcakes are the way to go for birthday parties!
They are so affordable, no cake to cut, no utensils needed! And best of all you can customize them with the cutest cupcake toppers.
I ordered colorful vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with sprinkles by the dozen from Publix. Then I topped them with THE cutest summer themed cupcake toppers ever!
Can you believe they came from Amazon?!
In addition to the cupcakes I set up a little mini “candy bar.”
The cute clear scallop containers are from the DollarTree!
They were full of all things gummy: Swedish Fish, Peach Rings, and Gummy Bears. Yum!
Let me just tell you: these were the hit of the party with the children and adults. Probably even more so than the cupcakes!
The clear serving scoops also came from the DollarTree.
Down by the drinks I had the brilliant idea to serve frozen Ice Pops in a beverage tub. Great idea in theory, hard to execute in the middle of the summer in Georgia : )
Despite my best efforts, they melted in no time. Thankfully the children didn’t seem to care!
Summer waterslide birthday party favors
These adorable beach ball cups made the cutest party favors!
The boys helped me fill them up with candy the week before the party.
Then I printed THIS thank you tag and tied them on with yellow and red grosgrain ribbon.
They made the cutest little party favors!
The party favors were displayed on the far right end of the table.
They were so cute that they doubled as party decor.
The children loved them!
And the boys have enjoyed drinking out of them ever since the party.
Summer waterslide birthday party water activities
Now to the fun part of the party: all things WATER!
Not only was it fun, but it was really a necessity for the Georgia summer heat.
We rented an inflatable bounce house + water slide combo from JumpNJacks and the children absolutely loved it. It was our second time renting from JumpNJacks and I highly recommend them if you are local.
Here is a look at the front yard setup.
We also decided to set up our own personal inflatable waterslide.
Initially I wasn’t planning on putting it out for the party, but I am so glad that I did! The children played in it just as much as the big rented inflatable.
As a side note, this INFLATABLE WATERSLIDE has been the best purchase this summer! It’s easy to set up and the boys have played in it more hours than I can count.
Waterslide action shots 🙂
In addition to the inflatables, I set up three baby pools in front of the house that were full of beach balls, water, water balloons, and squirt guns!
Three DollarTree flamingos made for fun party decor in front of the baby pools.
All of the squirters and water guns came from the DollarTree.
They were a huge hit with the boys!
Water balloons filled one of the baby pools.
A couple hundred water balloons were gone in no time!
Needless to say, the kiddos loved them.
Sunscreen and extra towels were available on the porch steps for anyone that needed it.
Thankfully our porch stays pretty cool, even in the summer. We have outdoor fans and we also lucked out with the position our porch faces. The porch always get a natural breeze flowing through that makes it so comfortable even in the hot summer.
It was probably a good ten degrees cooler on the porch than the front yard, so most of the adults gathered here during the party.
Guests enjoyed rocking in the rocking chairs and I also moved all of our wicker from the back porch out to the front porch to make more seating.
I stuck some mini balloons in the plants as well as a couple of milk glass vases to make the front porch feel a little more festive.
Summer waterslide birthday party children’s table decor
The children had their own cute little party table to sit down and eat.
People ask about this set of table and chairs often!
Last summer I had been looking for a children’s table that we could use for our playroom, crafting, homeschool, and of course parties!
This solid wood table popped up on Facebook Marketplace one day for FREE so you better believe I ran to get it! Daddy helped me cut the legs down shorter to make it the perfect height for children.
The wooden children’s chairs are a Facebook Marketplace find as well and they came from an old school room. Mother and I actually bought a set of ten a couple of years ago to use for parties.
I painted both the table and chairs with white paint with my beloved paint sprayer earlier this summer.
I folded one of the same yellow and white tablecloths over to make it a table runner for the children’s table.
The children’s table displayed sand castle buckets, party hats, and the cutest little summer-themed sunglasses from the DollarTree.
Summer waterslide birthday party fun
Fletcher is equal parts wild, rough and tough while simultaneously so sweet and loving. Sweet and spicy as I like to say 🙂
For example, during the t-ball games he is the roughest, most aggressive one out there. (Craig actually had to hold him off on more than one occasion to let other children have a chance to get the ball!).
But what does he do in the middle of the game? Picks a flower (weed) out of the grass and stops to bring it over to his Mama.
He’s going to be a heartbreaker, this one.
He is by far the funniest child I have ever been around (and I do not say that because he is mine!).
This makes it very hard to discipline him because I normally can’t help but laugh at some of his antics.
I will laugh and say, “Fletcher, where in the world did you come from?!?”
“God made me,” he says with a grin.
“God must have had a sense of humor that day,” I will answer back.
It is hard for me to believe he’s “only” four because he seems so much older. He’s never been a baby and he keeps right up with his older brother.
Speaking of brother, they are the best of friends. Inseparable doesn’t begin to describe their friendship! I’ve never seen such a strong bond between two brothers and it makes my Mama heart so happy.
During his fourth year he completed his first year of preschool (Mama cried the whole way home his first day), went to the urgent care (multiple times) for stitches (did I mention he is rough?!), played his first season of t-ball, and became a big brother.
Monster trucks, shopping at Walmart, t-ball, slime, painting, swinging and anything sweet/candy/dessert are some of his most favorite things.
He loves to dress up in costumes (most commonly Batman, Spiderman, or a Policeman) and is very particular about his “accessories.”
When t-ball first started he wore his entire baseball uniform for weeks straight. He told me he wanted to wear his baseball uniform out in public “so that everyone will know I am a baseball player.”
At four years old I hope I never forget how he wears knee high socks backwards so that he can see the heel design in the front (did I mention they are Christmas socks?).
If you’ve seen us out and about lately you know what I am talking about!
Or how he loves to wear his “sleeve” that he got at a baseball tournament.
It’s red and black with a skull on it. People ask about it just about everywhere we go. It goes very well with his gingham, smocked, and monogrammed outfits as you can imagine 🙂
Fletcher is strong willed (where in the world did he get that from?!) and has the best imagination. You should hear some of his “tales.” 🙂
His favorite color at four years old? Black. (cringe! haha).
Fletcher, life would be so boring without you.
Happy 4th Birthday Fletcher William! We sure do love you!
Love this and am using all of these ideas for my son’s 2nd bday in June! I just received the beach ball drink favors and am wondering what candies you filled in these? Thank you so much!!
Thank you Liz! I am so glad that you can use some of these ideas 🙂 Aren’t the beach ball drink favors just the cutest?! I filled them mixed candy.. really anything that wouldn’t melt! Smarties, Laffy Taffy, Dum Dum lollipops, nerds, fruit snacks, etc! I bought the bags of pre-mixed candy.
